However, my wife is younger and without such scars, and Thursday night after the disaster I saw her slipping away to a miserably morose weekend, so to try to pull her out, I decided to confess my dark secret to her: Even though I love the Lakers, and I love the back-stories of Kobe growing up, and Romy firing up the bench, and Lamar's sporadic salvations, and all that, I would be quietly bummed for Garnett if the Celtics lose. He has labored long and with dignity in the vineyards of Minnesota. The Celtic back-story is just as much about superstars submerging their egos and busting their butts for the team as the Laker's is.
